In the rest of the book, the network byte order is assumed. There are
two types of representation of integers— big endian and little endian. In
big endian, the most significant byte of an integer is in the most
significant byte (Motorola chips use big endian). In little endian, the most
significant byte of an integer is in the least significant byte (Intel).
Network byte order corresponds to big endian.
